Sarah Chapman's Headstone
Sarah Dearman (née Chapman) deserves a headstone. Having found Sarah buried in an unmarked pauper's plot, in early 2017 (thanks to Trustee, Dr Anna Robinson), her family wanted to give her a fitting memorial. So it seemed did many others.

With tremendous thanks to Unite the Union London and Eastern Region and GMB National, we were finally able to fund a headstone.

John das Gupta was identified via the Lettering Arts Trust and, following an initial meeting, Trustees were struck with how good his work was. Having sought quotations from other stonemasons, the Trustees decided John's was the favoured design.
The work was commissioned in August 2019 and, despite some delays due to COVID-19, John has now completed the carving - scroll through the images below . . . .
