Almond Press is a group of individuals drawn together through a passion for literature, writing, and our interest in the future of publishing. Our aim is to bring together authors, readers, and publishers in an attempt to find new talent while sharing and promoting great writing.

The East End Women’s Museum seeks to record, research, share and celebrate the stories of east London women past and present. It exists because for far too long women have been confined to the margins of history. "“The East End Women’s Museum is part of the solution, and a matter of representation. We want to rebalance the history books, and put women back in the picture".

Eastside Community Heritage was established in 1993 as part of the Stratford City Challenge community history project and became an independent charity in 1998. In 1999 Eastside Community Heritage established the Hidden Histories archive formerly known as the East London People’s Archive which now holds over 4,000 oral histories, thousands of photographs and video material all preserved and archived for public benefit.

In July 2012, Lemn Sissay was commissioned to write a poem for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. ‘Spark Catchers’ is a tribute to the Matchgirls, inspired by Annie Besant’s quote: "Failing a poet to hold up their conduct to the execration of posterity . . . ." There is a permanent physical landmark at the Olympic Park in Stratford.

Our Bow has been set up to enable the voices of Bow to get heard and to bring the community together.

PHM is the national museum of democracy, telling the story of its development in Britain: past, present, and future. Exploring migration. The museum provides opportunities for all people to learn about, be inspired by and get involved in ideas worth fighting for; ideas such as equality, social justice, co-operation, and a fair world for all.

Roman Road LDN is a hyperlocal magazine covering Bow and Globe Town in east London. Roman Road is the ‘spine’ of our turf, hence the name. We launched as a full-time publication in 2018

Since 26 August 2009, The Gentle Author has written about life in Spitalfields, every single day. His ambition is to write at least ten thousand stories about Spitalfields life and, at the rate of one a day, he should have achieved his aim by 2037!

The Whitechapel Society is a long-established historical society, originally set up to study the murders of Jack the Ripper and to shine a light on the conditions under which the victims lived. The Society has grown over the years to include experts in many aspects of Victorian and Edwardian East End life.

Inspired by the suffragette centenary, Nicola Rushton, started Women East in Stroudley Walk, Bow, where Sylvia Pankhurst gave her first speech on the back of a cart. Now looking to the next 100 years, Women East empowers women and girls through arts and politics, providing a platform for all the diverse voices of East London’s women to shape their futures.
